Anchorage Square
Details
Arrive by historic streetcar or cable car to enjoy the famous In-N-Out Burger at its only San Francisco location. Or, arrive by car anytime and park at the five-story garage that’s open 24 hours a day. Stay the weekend or longer at Anchorage Square’s Courtyard Marriott right in the heart of Fisherman’s Wharf.
It’s easy to find Anchorage Square. A distinctive multi-colored facade looks out over the famous Fisherman’s Wharf crab wheel sign that welcomes 1.5 million visitors a year to one of San Francisco’s top visitor attractions.
Shop
Find an old fashioned sweet shop, souvenirs, sweatshirts and sunglasses. Shop for athletic shoes, apparel, accessories and fashion headwear. Pop in to fill a tote for a picnic on a bench or at the beach.
Eat
It’s hard to beat a cheeseburger and fries from In-N-Out Burger or a tasty taco from Chipotle Mexican Grill, but Anchorage Square also has restaurants where diners can linger over a meal and a drink while taking in the views. The wide range of restaurants at Anchorage Square includes King of Thai Noodle, Fisherman’s Pizzeria, 3 Potato 4, Subway, Auntie Anne’s Pretzels, Quickly, Starbucks and Cold Stone Creamery for the ice cream finale.
Play
Because Anchorage Square is central to Fisherman’s Wharf, many of the city sightseeing tour begin and end at the doorstep. Come by pick up rental bikes or skates to navigate the Bay Trail along the waterfront or right across the Golden Gate Bridge.
Get a Segway rental sorted here or meet your Big Bus departure. There are Hop-on, Hop-off buses coming by as well as fun-loving folks taking their seats aboard Ride The Ducks tours departing from here.
Rental car offices for Avis and Hertz are open daily for those who are planning to explore the Bay Area and Wine Country beyond the city.
Stay
Courtyard Marriott has earned top ratings from previous guests for its great Fisherman’s Wharf location. They’ve also received near-perfect scores on cleanliness, service, free Wi-Fi and an excellent fitness facility -- just a few of the reasons why the hotel at Anchorage Square has been awarded the 2014 Certificate of Excellence from TripAdvisor.
Getting here
No San Francisco visit is complete without a ride on the cable cars. See how it works at the famous Powell-Hyde cable car turnaround, only one block away, and jump on. The historic F-Market streetcar provides another scenic ride, all the way along Embarcadero and Market Street to the Castro District and back.
About 30 shops and restaurants in Anchorage Square offer parking validation, some dependent upon a minimum spend.
